North Carolina State Employees Union of Progressives
» SEIU starts third party in North Carolina
You read that right, an international group of thugs is putting together a third party in our state to punish our Democrat representatives that didn't toe the (socialist) party line and dared to vote against the Hellth Scare Bull.
If you are a N.C. State employee, are you still a member of the union? Your association is now nothing more than the local arm of the SEIU, so you are now a union thug .. and a progressive.
Please do - check their website and note that the State Employees Association of North Carolina (SEANC) is mentioned in the second paragraph ... as a 'progressive group'.
In case they change that before you see it, here's a screenshot of it with the key phrase highlighted.
Hope you look good in purple.
SEANC Members: Yer in the Union Now

SEUNC, The local arm of international union thugs.

December 6, 2009 - From an article in The News Herald of Morganton, NC, Johnnie Carswell tried to tell North Carolina State Employees that their employee association was about to become a permanent branch office of a notorious gang of international union thugs.
SEANC members should reject SEIU affiliation
On March 8, 2008, less than 50 district chairs and executive officers of the State Employees Association of North Carolina made an epic decision that may have an unfavorable effect on all state employees for the remainder of their careers. By a vote of 47-10, authorization was given by this group for negotiations to begin to affiliate with the Service Employees International Union. That same group voted 52-5 to hold a special session of the SEANC annual convention last May 3 in Greenville, N.C., to solely consider an affiliation agreement with SEIU.
At that hastily called convention and by a vote of 524 to 147, over 50,000 state employees became members of a union without their knowledge.
If you've been paying attention, that's not news. I've covered that point several times in the last year or so. In July 2009, I attended a membership drive ice cream social sponsored by the SEUNC in Raleigh. I confronted the union reps about the SEIU affiliations and asked about dues money and how much of it SEIU gets - and made a video.
At 1:43 in the video, the SEUNC rep states that "... no dues money, SEANC dues money went to the Obama campaign ... ", they later stated that SEIU receives none of SEUNC dues.
But that was in July 2009. Let's go back to Carswell's article.
... if the contract is not renegotiated, SEANC must also begin paying 50 cents for each member each month as dues to SEIU. Current SEANC membership numbers would push this amount to well over $300,000 a year.
I assume the ice cream man knew the details of the contract between SEUNC and SEIU, so saying SEIU was getting no SEUNC money at the time was just barely the truth. According to Mr. Carswell's article, starting 6 days ago the SEIU is sucking over a quarter million dollars of NC state employees' salary every year.
I received the following email forward today from a former SEUNC member. I'll hold comment.
Today I learned that SEANC was providing a bus for State Employees to travel to Washington DC in support of Obama's health care and to protest against the insurance companies. I was furious. I have been a member of SEANC for over 35 years.
Needless to say, I called to cancel my membership. I was asked why and I told the lady who answered the phone that it was because I did not agree with SEANC's stance on health care, I do not agree with their involvement in politics, I do not want my membership dues funding something I totally disagree with and that I do not like their association/membership with SEIU.
I was then told politely that the instructions would be emailed to me.
I received this email shortly.
Note the last sentence gives me to instructions. I did not ask for all of this - only instructions.
I do not know Mary McCammon or Kevin LeCount.
As I did with my AARP membership, I am cancelling my SEANC membership.
I thought I would pass this on to you to share with other like minded conservatives. I sure hope you do and ask them to pass it on. Wouldn't it be great if a large # cancelled their memberhship?
Our voices need to be heard in every way possible!!!!!!
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
~~ thanks to Chris Parker for the tip on Carswell's article ~~
North Carolina Under Attack by Union Thugs?
By Bubba on Feb 6, 2010 | In SEANC-SEIU | 2 feedbacks »
North Carolina and Virginia are the only states with specific laws prohibiting collective bargaining by public sector workersUnions want the law taken off the books.
.... over the last decade, the Teamsters and Service Employees International Union have been pouring money into North Carolina political campaigns, most of it going to Democrats.
State Employees Association of North Carolina decided to affiliate with SEIU, becoming a statewide local of the union.
SEANC (Junior Union Thugs) Begging for Cash

If you're a NC State employee and member of the State Employees Association, then you probably received one of their letters crying for money.
I got one, it came with a return form and an envelope to make it easier for me to send them more of my money. Oh hot dang.
I reckon they need extra cash to help some more Dhimmicrat politicians undermine the Constitution. Or perhaps the SEIU bosses have upped their extortion rates. I dunno. Dont care either.
I have returned the form.

» Hill panel testimony to accuse ACORN of mob tactics
A lawyer for a whistleblower on the activist group ACORN is prepared to tell a House panel Thursday that the group provided liberal causes with protest-for-hire services and coerced donations from the targets of demonstrations through a mob-style "protection" racket.
... violating tax, campaign-finance and other laws by sharing a list of President Obama's maxed-out campaign donors to solicit more funds for a get-out-the-vote drive.

... The Obama campaign paid an ACORN affiliate group more than $800,000 for these get-out-the-vote services during the primary race, though the expenditure was initially misrepresented to the Federal Election Commission as for "sound and lighting equipment,"

The "unofficial" program collected payments to organize protests. For example, the Service Employees International Union hired ACORN to harass the Carlyle Group, a global private equity firm. SEIU: Union Dirt #3

Union dues have been flowing into the coffers of ACORN.
Dues paying members of NEA, SEIU (and SEANC???) have been funding the criminally corrupt organization that willingly and eagerly facilitates child prostitution.
NEA and SEIU Diverted Forced Union Dues to Corrupt ACORN Offices
These financial connections between Big Labor and ACORN highlight the fundamental injustices of forced unionism. Every day, unwilling workers are forced to pay dues to union bosses or be fired from their jobs while their hard-earned money underwrites corruption and general thuggery.
If you are a union member you should be enraged.
If you are a union employee you should be ashamed.
And if you are a NC State Employee you should be getting about fed up with the SEANC's ties to SEIU thugs.

Of course, my headline could read ACORN Just as Rotten, Depraved and Corrupt as SEIU. Both groups are headed by criminals, manned by thugs and controlled by communists.
And funded by you. and me.
SEIU/ACORN: Peas in a pod.
It’s Not Just ACORN; SEIU’s Underage Sex Scandal
The ACORN-linked, “public option”-mongering Service Employees International Union has its own black eye to contend with. A former official with SEIU Local 1000 in California was slapped with a 25-year prison sentence for charges of child molestation and making/possessing child pornography.
Matthew Vadum writes at CanadaFreePress.com that
Two SEIU locals, 100 in New Orleans and 880 in Chicago, are ACORN affiliates. The chief organizer of Local 100 is Wade Rathke, who was expelled last year from ACORN for orchestrating an eight-year long coverup of his brother’s embezzlement of nearly $1 million from ACORN. ACORN insider Keith Kelleher is chief organizer of Local 880.

DNC Headquarters Vandalized

The Colorado Democratic Headquarters in Denver was vandalized by Right-Wing Extremists, hell-bent on undermining overwhelming public support of Obama's vision of Free everything for everyone.
At least that was the headline that was envisioned and hoped for. The truth that has been revealed portrays something different, something twisted.
SEIU Thug Breaks Windows At Democrat Party Headquarters
... later in the day authorities arrested a 24 year-old Maurice Shwenkler on suspicion of smashing 11 windows at Colorado Democratic Party headquarters.
Turns out that Mr. Shwenkler was recently paid $500 by the SEIU for, uh, “communications.”
Breaking windows is one way to communicate, I guess.
I think what the police need to be looking into here is a plot between the SEIU and Democrats to vandalize their own headquarters to further their spin about “radical” and “extremist” conservative health care protesters. Because that’s what it looks like to me.
Dem Party chaircommie Pat Waak said "Clearly there's been an effort on the other side to stir up hate. I think this is the consequence of it."
dont forget that the SEANC that's been demonstrating and sponsoring staged 'townhalls' for Democrat congressmen in support of the Socialist Hellth Scare is now our local arm of the international union-thug-club SEIU.
So if our local Dem HQ gets vandalized, perhaps we should tell the Raleigh PD to start their investigation at 1621 Midtown Place.

That would be the purple-shirted members of the SEIU--the Service Employees International Union—who (literally) swung into action outside a town hall meeting in Missouri and became infamous on YouTube and national media.
The union “Purps” also turned out in force at President Obama's town hall in New Hampshire. SEIU brought its people in by chartered buses after getting special tickets from the White House.
And why shouldn’t the president give ‘em freebie tickets? He owes them! After all, the SEIU spent $61-million to help elect him. The union also set aside $10-million to push Obama’s agenda in its post-election “Change That Works” campaign, and pledged more, including 30% of the union's resources and hiring over 1,000 workers in 35 states.
Many, like Rep. Kathy Castor (D-Fl), have asked SEIU to be a “sponsor” of their town halls. “Enforcers” might be a better word.
One news account of a Castor’s town hall reported, “Tractor sized bouncers (union thugs) manhandled the overflow crowd, injuring several. . . . Eyewitnesses report SEIU/ACORN members roughing up seniors, pushing little old ladies against a wall and literally tearing a man's shirt.”
Strong-arm tactics are SEIU’s strong suit, even outside town halls. In her book, Culture of Corruption, Michelle Malkin writes, “The SEIU seeks membership growth through aggressive ‘corporate campaigns’ that have a blunt message to employers, “Let us unionize your workforce or we will destroy your reputation.” Its president, Andy Stern, sums up his leadership philosophy thusly, “We prefer to use the power of persuasion, but if that doesn't work we use the persuasion of power.”
Stern told the Las Vegas Sun, “We spent a fortune to elect Barack Obama--$60.7 million to be exact—and we're proud of it.”

» SEANC-SEIU Packs Political Punch
In May of 2008, SEANC officially voted to become an SEIU affiliate and now carries the name SEIU Local 2008. With this affiliation SEIU, both national and local, intends to flex its political muscle in North Carolina as never before. Under a five-year partnership approved by the SEANC Board of Governors in February 2004, SEANC agreed to provide the political infrastructure and the political workers and SEIU the money to push forward a common legislative agenda.
In 2008, the SEANC-sponsored EMPAC focused campaign support heavily on Democratic candidates, endorsing 26 Democratic candidates in the NC Senate and only 6 Republicans. For the NC House, endorsements were bestowed upon 59 Democrats and 14 Republicans.SEIU spent $635,000 in North Carolina in 2006 in political advertising, public opinion polls, and get-out-the-vote efforts, more money than any business PAC in the state. In 2006, the organization FairJudge.net (supporting state Supreme Court candidates) received more than 10 percent of its total budget from the union, and state legislative candidates in 2004 received over $650,000 in contributions from SEIU. The SEIU money and money from the North Carolina Association of Educators allowed Democratic state candidates to heavily outspend the Republicans and helped Democrats solidify their control in the state legislature.
According to third quarter reporting for the 2008 elections, the SEIU federal PAC threw $1,810,569 into North Carolina's political campaigns this year. And late reporting by SEANC indicates that the separate state workers' PAC gave $194,800, though the PAC failed to comply with deadlines for third quarter reporting (Red Clay Citizen, 11/19/08). Clearly the two combined had a dramatic impact on campaign coffers and get-out-the-vote (GOTV) efforts statewide.
The merger of SEANC and SEIU represents perhaps the most significant labor initiative in North Carolina since the 1930s. The combination of manpower and money is a powerful force in politics, and should be taken seriously.
SEANC-SEIU : NC State Employees, Socialists by Proxy?
By Bubba on Aug 13, 2009 | In SEANC-SEIU | 9 feedbacks »
NC State employees, did you surrender your morals, ethics, integrity and patriotism when you signed up as an employee of the state of North Carolina? Although it was 32 years ago, and my memory aint quite what it used to be, I’m still pretty sure I didn’t trade my soul for state employment. When I joined the State Employees Association, I did just that … joined an association. Not a union, but an association.
Now I find out that my association has voluntarily morphed into a union.
As state employees we should be concerned about the various organizations that claim to represent us and speak for us. The organization that assumes that role most often is the State Employees Association.
The SEANC has been particularly busy speaking for us lately. However I, for one, do not appreciate the message being delivered in my name. The SEANC has been protesting against Blue Cross, Blue Shield in an attempt to portray our insurance provider as evil, rich corporate pirates. They have also been demonstrating in support of the President's proposed Universal Health Care program, or as I call it: the Socialist HELLth Scare Scam.
On July 9, 2009 while counter-protesting MoveOn.org reps at the office of Senator Hagan, we witnessed employees of SEANC (wearing SEANC logo'ed shirts) standing with the communist funded, anti-Americans of MoveOn.org.

On Friday, July 24, I found out that SEANC had again staged a demonstration on Salisbury St in Raleigh to endorse the Health Care bill. This demonstration was reported as being staged by state employees. According to News14 (Businesses, workers focus on health care reform), "North Carolina state employees protested outside the downtown Raleigh Sheraton hotel where health care executives were discussing their thoughts about the progress of the national health care reform."
The article quotes Brad Crone, regional director of the Healthcare Leadership Council, as saying his group agrees with Obama about the need for national healthcare reform. But they believe it should be driven by the private sector and there should not be a government-run option.
Bob Greczyn, the CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, agreed that a public health plan is not necessary ... having a public health option would not mean having the same quality of care. "When you put a government plan in that's not going to compete on a level playing field with the private market, we believe that will destabilize the market,"
Then the article says that "having a public health plan is what the State Employees Association of North Carolina has been rallying for"
I have been studying up on SEANC and their affiliations, goals and political actions. Did you know that as of May 3, 2008, the SEANC is affiliated with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU)?
SEIU is one of the largest labor unions in America and gives millions of dollars to Democratic lawmakers and politicians who promote government expansion and higher taxes.
Your Association is a now a union, a part of the largest union of service employees and an unapologetic supporter of America's first socialist president. Not only that, but SEANC employees seem to harbor some affection for the members of MoveOn.org, as though they’re kin – of the same flavor of politics, if you will.
Before I dig further into the SEIU compost heap, there’s a couple of things you should know about MoveOn.org, other than the fact that it’s founded, funded and led by self-admitted communists:

MoveOn and their fellow anti-war (translate to anti-America) radical activists performed every detestable act known to force America’s loss of the Iraq war. In December 2007 they pressured Dhimmicrats in congress to filibuster a spending bill that included money for the military to sustain the war effort in Iraq.
In essence, they demanded that our government throw our soldiers, unarmed, unfed, unclothed to the enemy.
On September 10, 2007 MoveOn.org ran a full-page ad in the New York times accusing General Patraeus of “cooking the books for the White House” while labeling him a traitor. They made the argument that "Iraq is mired in an unwinnable religious civil war.”
MoveOn was wrong, the war was winnable, proven by the fact that it is now won. Patraeus is a hero.
But has MoveOn backed off those lies? Have they apologized?
On the contrary they still affirm and stand by their lies.
But enough about MoveOn traitors. There’s plenty of evidence to justify labeling them thusly, but that’s a post for another day. Let’s get back to SEIU traitors.
SEIU, the Service Employees International Union
One of the largest labor unions in America, gives millions of dollars to Democratic lawmakers and politicians who promote government expansion and higher taxes.
SEIU represents more immigrant workers than any other union in the United States.
The Service Employees International Union spent $30,816,092 in independent expenditures in support of Barack Obama and as early as January 2008 officially endorsed the Obama campaign
SEIU fights legislation to mandate the E-Verify system that is used by employers to verify whether or not prospective employees are Americans, or at least legal. I.E., a system that facilitates enforcement of the law.
SEIU condemns what they refer to as the “military coup that resulted in the illegal ouster of democratically-elected President Manuel Zelaya ”
Which is, of course, a total lie.
The current president of the SEIU is Andrew Stern, one of many radical union organizers who came out of the Midwest Academy* . In an interview with the LA Sun in May 2009, Stern boasted "We spent a fortune to elect Barack Obama — $60.7 million to be exact — and we're proud of it,"
The 2-million-member union, which represents both government and private service employees, proudly claimed that its workers "knocked on 1.87 million doors, made 4.4 million phone calls and sent more than 2.5 million pieces of mail in support of Obama."
Through a series of local chapter takeovers and bully campaigns to destroy the reputation of executives who refuse to submit to their will, Stern and his scandal-plagued lieutenants have consolidated low-skill service workers to create a 21st-century labor empire.
The ubiquitous Stern now enjoys a prominent seat at the table of every major policy discussion at the White House, including economic recovery and health care radicalization.
SEIU's enforcers have set aside $10 million to un-elect any of its political beneficiaries who abandon their pledges to do the union's legislative bidding. The campaign money was raised by slapping an extra $6-per-member fee on top of regular dues payments — and funneled straight to the union's political action committee.
(~~ via IBDeditorials: Labor's Investment In Obama Pays Off ~~ )
On July 24, I got a call from a fellow State Employee telling me that the SEANC had again demonstrated and publicly endorsed Social Hellth Care in my name. Since my work place is only a couple of miles from the SEANC headquarters in Raleigh, I decided it was time to go there and make known my displeasure with their actions.
I entered the lobby, which was filled with SEANC people (there was a big board meeting going on). I asked to speak with Mr. Dana Cope but only got his assistant. Good enough. I told her and everyone in the lobby that as a 32 years state employee and member of the association, I was not pleased with the SEANC's public endorsement of a socialist program that I did not believe in ... and a few other things.
I demanded that Cope contact me to acknowledge receipt of my message. That acknowledgement came via email the next Monday.
From Cope:
I am tied up in meetings all day today and tonight. I understand you wanted to tell me that you do not support the seanc stand supporting president obamas health insurance reform plan.
You should know that our convention delegates have been consistently on record voting for me to speak out for universal heath insurance for all americans for the last 5 years.
Approximately 1000 seanc member delegates which are elected by the over 52000 members have overwhelmingly voted to support the health insurance reform plan. Recently we polled a sampling of our members and over 78 percent support president obamas reform plan.
So I do, indeed, speak for all seanc members on this issue as I have been directed by my bosses (our elected 60 member seanc board of governors). If you don't like the official seanc position you can work with your district chair within dot and have your views known.
In turn your district chair can bring them up to our board of governors to discuss if they deem appropriate. Our board instructs me on the public policy statements that they wish for me to speak on as one voice to the public for all of seanc.
Your other option is to discontinue your membership in seanc if you do not like what seanc stands for.
Seanc firmly stands in support of president obama's health insurance reform plan.
Either way I wish you well and offer thanks for your work in dot on behalf of all North Carolinian's.
My response:
Mr. Cope,
I asked for acknowledgement that you had received my message, and I have that. However, make note that the message was not only do I not support Obama's plan, which is nothing more than rehash of decades old liberal-socialist strategy - but that I will not tolerate the SEANC speaking for and in the name of state employees in general.
52,000 members is barely half of the total. What percentage of those 52,000 are not aware that they are now part of a union? A union still masquerading as an association. How many will retain their membership after becoming aware of the true nature of their parent union, SEIU?
I fully intend to discontinue my membership, but not just yet. I am assuming, perhaps naively, that as a member my voice is still heard. So I think I'll hang around a while, I don't think I've said all I have to say.
For the record,
True reform would come in the form of identifying and reversing the causes of the depreciation of the system. The cause is government; government meddling and government refusal to curtail the elements that drag the system down. The insurance industry is not the culprit to be punished.
The system will not be reformed by the same government that is responsible for its' downgrade. A system is not reformed by crippling it, and remodeling it after other systems that have already failed - miserably (France, Britain and Canada's socialist programs).
A system cannot be fixed by the same government that broke it.
