Laptop Computers for Wounded at Ft Bragg
By Bubba on Jul 1, 2010 | In American Patriots, Troop Support, Our Fallen Heroes | 3 feedbacks »
Last Saturday, June 26, I attended a presentation at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina.
The Gathering of Eagles, in conjunction with Soldiers Angels, Military Order of the Purple Heart and Rolling Thunder, donated brand new laptop computers to 20 wounded soldiers at Moon Hall.
With these internet ready laptops, equipped with webcams, the soldiers have the ability to communicate and stay in touch with family and friends during their stay in the hospital.
I've prepared a YouTube video of the event ... or some of the event. I missed the actual presentation because I was late. I was late because it took considerably more time to clear the security gate than was anticipated. More about that below.
So, why was I delayed at the security gate?
When I pulled up, the officer said
"Have your driver license and registration ready for inspection, open all doors and your hood. Exit the vehicle."
As I climbed down from my pickup, I said
"I have a concealed carry permit, and I am in possession of two loaded weapons.
The officer said
"Step away from the vehicle ...."
Wouldn't you like to know the rest of that story?
Five-County Patriots of North Carolina

For North Carolinians in the Five-County area, the Mocassin Creek Minute Men website is now online.
The MCMM was formed in the fall of 2009 and has quickly grown to a membership of around 100. They meet at Fargos Steakhouse in Zebulon on the first Tuesday of each month.
My wife and I have attended for about 5 months and are duly impressed.
If you feel the need to be involved and active in between Tea Parties and live in the five-county area, the MCMM just might be what you're looking for.

I Stand With Arizona (and Against Illegal Immigration)

DO IT! DO IT! DO IT!
Arizona Official Threatens to Cut Off Los Angeles Power as Payback for Boycott
A member of Arizona's top government utilities agency threw down the gauntlet in a letter to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, threatening to cut off the city's power supply as retribution for the city's boycott of Arizona
I have an idea or two for Arizona:
1 - Sell Raffle Tickets online. The winner gets to throw the switch on L.A. The state would make 10 times more money than they've lost due to the boycotts of open-borders liberals.
2 - Logon on to BlueServo and for every illegal that crosses the border, shut down L.A.'s power for 10 minutes. After a couple of days of that, mayor Villaraigosa will be down at the border building a fence himself.
From Grassfire Nation:
Last week Rep. Ted Poe (R-TX), poked a Texas-sized hole in
the push to stop Arizona's reasonable immigration law (SB 1070).
During a hearing with U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, who
has threatened legal action to block SB1070's enforcement,
Poe asked, "Have you read the Arizona law?"Holder stammered, "I glanced at it."
Poe, a former prosecutor and judge then turned up the heat
on Holder, questioning his snap to judgment regarding the
constitutionality of the statute without having first read
the law. Poe then chided Holder by pointing out that the
16-page bill was much shorter than the healthcare bill --
which Holder claims to have read.Had Holder read the law, he would have concluded
that SB1070 simply states that violating federal immigration
law is now a state crime as well. Why the Left is attacking Arizona...
Without even reading the new law, Holder and the pro-amnesty
Left are on the attack. And their reasons are clear...The Obama team and pro-amnesty advocates are trying
to label anyone who supports border security as
a racist, xenophobe or hate monger -- and then
use this platform to pass amnesty and rally
their base in November.Never mind that 70 percent of Arizona residents support the
law, or the fact that as citizens we have a right to have
our borders secured. If the Left can succeed in framing the
border issue in hate and xenophobia, they will have created
the political justification they need to pass amnesty while
discrediting their political opponents in the upcoming election.
The Left-Wing Boycott is Taking its Toll on Arizona
In the wake of the left-wing, open-borders boycott of Arizona over the new immigration law, the City of Phoenix estimates that it is on track to lose $90 MILLION in lost business. The left wing has mobilized en masse against Arizona, to huge effect.
According to Arizona's public officials, the open-borders lefties are successfully managing to put the economic squeeze on Arizona
Patriot Groups Kick Off National Arizona BUYcott Campaign
Dateline: Phoenix, AZ: While protestors have launched a sit in calling on the Governor to veto the bill launching the Country’s first major state enforcement efforts on illegal immigration, protesters like Al Sharpton are asking for a Boycott of the State.
In response, Patriot groups around the country want to support the rights of the people of Arizona and are calling for a BUYcott of the State.
You can participate in the BUYcott to support Arizona by simply checking to see if companies of Arizona offer products that you would buy anyway.
Check the lists of companies at BuyCottArizona.com
The Facebook page also has a list companies.
There is also a list of Boycotters, including email addresses and phone numbers. Use them.
Finally, sign the petition stating
I STAND WITH ARIZONA!
I stand against illegal immigration.
I stand against the Federal government's refusal to secure the borders or enforce the law.
I support Arizona's lone, brave fight to enforce the rule of law with their new legislation that enjoyed broad, bi-partisan support.
I reject any slander or aspersions against the People of the state of Arizona, that this law is about racism, or xenophobia, or "apartheid", rather than the truth: Arizona is doing the job the Feds won’t do — taking the law and our borders seriously to protect the health, safety, and welfare of its citizens first.
I reject and refuse to participate in any boycott of the great State of Arizona.
I call on the United States government to start doing its job according to the Constitution: Secure the Borders, Enforce the immigrations laws, Protect its citizens.

Navy SEAL Found Not guilty of Assaulting a Suspected Terrorist
Virginia military jury found a Navy SEAL not guilty on charges of punching a suspected Iraqi terrorist.
Matthew McCabe, a Special Operations Petty Officer Second Class (SO-2), was facing three charges: dereliction of performance of duty for willfully failing to safeguard a detainee, making a false official statement, and assault.
There's a lot more to be said about this case but for now just know that all three SEALs have been found not guilty.

Happy Birthday, Uncle George
By Bubba on Mar 18, 2010 | In American Patriots, Just Sayin' | 1 feedback »
On April 21, 2007 the Gathering of Eagles took a stand against an anti-war protest in Greensboro, NC. Sponsored by WCW, CodePoink, SDS and various leftist commie groups like the Dhimmicrat party, it was the typical Bush-bashing troop-bash.
There's a full write up of the day at GOE NC

It was a memorable day for me in many ways, but in particular; it was the day I first met George Samek. We have stood side by side and stared down moonbats and anti-war commies on sidewalks, parking lots and roadsides from Charlotte to Washington, NC to D.C., New Jersey and all the way up to West Point, NY.
Today is George's Birthday.
Happy 70, Unky George.
And many more.

Is that too much to ask for?

If you can’t bring yourself to give the living the sense of accomplishment for winning a war that many claimed was endless, at least humor the dead. Allow them to rest knowing that the war that took their lives was won because of their sacrifice.
Is that too much to ask for?
» Our Mission is Finally Accomplished… Anyone Care?
The firefight ebbs. The mortar fire ceases. A few last stray rounds streak past. A cry from behind causes me to turn. Lying in the road is a young Iraqi woman. I run over to help. She’s caught a round just below her temple. Her stunning beauty has been ruined forever.
She cries, “Paper! Paper” over and over until the ambulance arrives to take her away. An old lady emerges from the schoolhouse-turned voting site, sheets of blue paper in hand. She gives one to the wounded girl, who clutches it to her like a prized possession even as the ambulance carries her away.
The ballot was her voice. All she wanted was a chance to exercise it, just once, before she died.
...
That young woman wanted nothing else than the chance to explore her newfound freedom. She didn’t beg for help, or plead for her life. Voting would become her final act. In that moment, she matched our own sacrifices.
Our friends died to secure this day. And here on this road in Diyala, I saw proof that the blood spilled in this backward country had value. It made the cause noble and just. This may not mean much to someone who stands in opposition to our fight, but it is the legacy of our fallen. The honor of their sacrifice.

Troop Support?
You wanna talk about supporting the troops?
» Week 251, February 5, 2010 - Ignoring weather warnings to stay off the roads at all costs, the DC chapter recorded its 251st consecutive Friday night at Walter Reed.
"We arrived about 6:40, shoveled and salted a small clear area where we were going to stand and we were on our posts before 7. Even the salted areas eventually got covered so we had to keep crunching the snow into the salt to keep parts bare. My biggest problem was the snow that collected on my clothing kept falling off in clumps. "
