The Real Objective: Power

Since the 2006 take-over of Congress by the Dhimmicrats, and more so since the 2008 election, legislation has been introduced and processed through procedures that can best be described as misdirection: a larger movement conceals a smaller movement.
It has been obvious since January that the (D) congress has used public attention on one issue to provide cover for backroom preparation of legislation on a completely different issue. While talking to the press and public about waterboarding and closing Gitmo, they're actually working on the launch of their Socialized Healthcare. While talking to the press and public about Healthcare, they're in a back room cooking up yet another gun-grab bill. While talking to the press and public about gun control, they're meeting in yet another back room putting together the plan to ram through the Cap and Tax bill.
On May 28, I posted a link to an article titled Obama, Cheney and the bright shiny thing in which the author, Frank Salvato, states
What is the bright shiny thing, you ask? Simple. It's a distraction; a diversion. Any slight-of-hand artist, any illusionist will tell you, the bright shiny thing makes all tricks, all illusions possible. While the audience is looking at the bright shiny thing, the illusionist is performing the tasks that makes the trick look like something magical has happened..."Nothing up my sleeve, presto!" Truth be told, the bright shiny thing tactic also works in politics and politically opportunist government and every savvy politician knows it.
So, knowing that everything the Dems do is about garnering more power, and being aware of their use of smokescreen issues, feinting legislation and dangling the bright shiny thing; I am amazed that I failed to grasp what's really going on today. Today - while Nazi Pelosi and Count Waxman are seemingly making a full frontal assault on the American economy by slamming their Cap and Tax "clean energy" bill down our throats, my child bride had to wave her hand in front of my face and ask "Is this not just another prestidigitation? Don't look at the bright shiny thing."
Eh? Whu .. ?
"The real issue is Amnesty." she said, and walked away.
Let's think about this. The healthcare and cap-and-trade issue are both bound to backfire if implemented. Even Dem fools recognize that when a socialized healthcare system fails the party with their name on it loses power. Same with the economic destruction resulting from a foolish energy policy. So why would they put all their eggs in those baskets when there is one fool-proof issue that will grant permanant power?
If they give citizenship to 20 million illegal aliens, those brand new Americans will vote Democrat for the rest of their lives.
We have to fight the energy bill. We have to fight the socialized health care. But we have to do so remembering that, for now, they may be the bright shiny things being used to divert our attention from the real play for power.
